Anthropic is expanding its European operations following the opening of a new office in Milan. The AI company plans to significantly increase its international workforce as demand for its Claude AI models grows outside the United States.
Anthropic has opened a new office in Milan as part of its ongoing expansion across Europe.
The AI company said it plans to triple its international workforce to support increasing demand for its Claude large language models outside the United States. The Milan location becomes Anthropic’s sixth office in Europe, joining existing operations in Dublin, Zurich, Munich, Paris, and London.
According to the company, the Milan office will initially focus on sales, marketing, and technical support activities. The team will provide assistance before and after implementation for customers operating across several industries.
Anthropic also plans to establish a policy presence in the market as discussions around artificial intelligence and ethics continue to grow. Company representatives said engagement with policymakers and institutions remains an important part of its approach to AI development.
The company highlighted its focus on AI safety and ethical considerations, including conversations about the impact of artificial intelligence on employment and wealth distribution. Anthropic said it has worked to encourage dialogue between governments, institutions, and the technology sector on these issues.
Anthropic’s emphasis on AI safety recently gained attention when co-founder Christopher Olah was invited to attend a presentation related to Pope Leo’s first encyclical, which addressed challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
The company has also advocated for restrictions on certain military and surveillance-related uses of AI models, supporting safeguards around how advanced AI systems can be deployed.
