Cognizant has expanded its strategic partnership with Google Cloud by establishing a dedicated 18,000-strong Gemini Frontier Capability Group focused on scaling agentic AI into live enterprise production environments. Building on the upskilling of 55,000 associates via Gemini workshops, the unit will leverage the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Google Cloud Model Armor to deploy autonomous agents across legacy modernization, developer productivity, autonomous operations, and cybersecurity.
Information technology services major Cognizant has significantly broadened its global partnership with Google Cloud, forming an 18,000-person Gemini Frontier Capability Group dedicated to moving agentic artificial intelligence from experimental pilots into full-scale enterprise production.
The newly formed division builds directly upon the dedicated Gemini practice Cognizant launched in April 2026, combining Google Cloud’s foundational AI models with Cognizant’s vertical industry and systems engineering capabilities.
Targeted Focus Areas and Enterprise Solutions The specialized 18,000-engineer group will initially concentrate development and client deployments around four core technological domains:
-
Legacy System Modernization: Refactoring and migrating monolithic enterprise codebases using agentic workflows.
-
Developer Experience: Accelerating software development lifecycles and automated testing frameworks.
-
Autonomous Business Processes: Embedding multi-agent workflows into end-to-end operational pipelines.
-
Advanced Cybersecurity: Deploying security agents to monitor, detect, and mitigate threats across complex digital footprints.
The group is rolling out targeted multi-agent applications across key industry verticals, including:
-
Retail: Cognizant’s Catalog Support Agent for automated merchant inventory and catalog operations.
-
Healthcare: A Neuro San-orchestrated Healthcare Agentic Marketplace for clinical data integration.
-
Manufacturing: Multi-agent autonomous order-to-cash operational workflows.
Standardized Agentic Architecture: MCP and Model Armor To resolve enterprise data-governance and runtime execution risks, the solutions will be developed on an open, standardized framework:
-
Protocol Standardization: Workflows will utilize a security-focused agentic architecture built on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP).
-
Enterprise Guardrails: Systems will integrate Google Cloud's Model Armor security technology to protect agent runtimes against data leakage and prompt injection.
"Establishing our dedicated Gemini Frontier Capability Group lets our best frontier engineering talent focus entirely on getting frontier AI into production for clients. Our Build with Gemini workshop gave over 55,000 associates that experience directly, earning them tangible skills on one of the world's most advanced AI platforms, and this new group is where that talent will deliver real client impact." — Ravi Kumar S, CEO, Cognizant
Internal Deployment Roadmap Cognizant is pairing its client-facing practice with an aggressive internal employee enablement agenda:
Upskilling Reach: Over 55,000 associates have completed hands-on "Build with Gemini" training workshops.
Deployment Milestones: The company reiterated plans announced in July to roll out Gemini access to 100,000 internal employees during 2026, with a broader strategic milestone to equip 200,000 associates over the long term.
