A fresh graduate’s Oracle offer was withdrawn for the second time shortly before his scheduled joining date. The development has left him seeking new opportunities in software development, software engineering and AI engineering.
A software developer’s job offer from Oracle was withdrawn for the second time just days before his scheduled joining date, leaving the fresh graduate facing uncertainty at the beginning of his career.
Tejasw Agrawal had received a pre-placement offer (PPO) from Oracle, but the company first revoked it in May 2026. In July, Oracle offered him the same software development position again and scheduled his joining for August 18.
After receiving the second offer, Agrawal completed the required documentation and joining formalities. He also booked flight tickets to relocate for the role. However, on August 13, five days before his joining date, Oracle informed him that the offer had been revoked again.
Agrawal shared the development on LinkedIn, writing, “Re-offered. Revoked again.”
According to Agrawal, he had other opportunities during this period but decided not to pursue them after being assured that the Oracle position was confirmed. He said that facing the same uncertainty twice has been particularly difficult as he begins his career.
His LinkedIn post received more than 4,000 likes, with users responding to his request for support. He is now seeking opportunities in software development, software engineering and AI engineering.
Agrawal had previously completed a three-month internship at Oracle from May to July. He holds a BTech degree in Electrical Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology.
The situation comes as Oracle faces reported pressure related to its spending on AI infrastructure. A Business Insider report cited plans for another round of job cuts this month, although Oracle declined to comment on the report.
Oracle reduced its workforce by 13%, or 21,000 employees, during fiscal 2026, leaving approximately 141,000 employees. At the same time, the company spent $55.7 billion on infrastructure, exceeding the cash it generated by $23.7 billion.
Oracle raised $48 billion through debt and stock during fiscal 2026 to support its expansion and plans to raise another $40 billion during the current fiscal year. The company reported a 17% increase in overall revenue and 77% growth in cloud infrastructure, while its heavy spending has increased cost pressures.
Oracle has not publicly explained why Agrawal’s offer was withdrawn, and it remains unclear whether the decision was connected to the reported cost-cutting measures.
Despite the setback, Agrawal said he intends to continue searching for an opportunity. In his LinkedIn post, he wrote, “Starting again, but not giving up,” while appealing to recruiters and industry professionals for help finding a role to begin his career.
