UAE hospitality hiring remains active, but employers are increasingly looking for a broader mix of skills rather than experience alone. Digital confidence, adaptability and strong interpersonal abilities are becoming more important as hotels expand and technology becomes more integrated into daily operations.

Hotels and resorts across the UAE continue to recruit as the hospitality sector grows, with hiring taking place across frontline operations, specialist departments and technology-related positions. Industry executives and recruitment specialists say the challenge is increasingly shifting from simply filling vacancies to finding professionals with the right combination of experience, adaptability and digital skills.

Demand remains strong across areas such as front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, culinary operations and guest services. Hotels are also looking for specialist professionals in revenue management, sales, finance, human resources, engineering and IT. Recruitment needs vary depending on the property, with new hotel and resort openings often requiring large-scale hiring across several departments.

Hospitality leaders say employers are placing greater importance on skills beyond traditional industry experience. Communication, cultural awareness, empathy, attention to detail and the ability to adapt are becoming increasingly important, particularly for employees who interact directly with guests.

Technology is also influencing the type of skills hotels value. Property-management systems, digital customer-service platforms, data and automated processes are becoming more relevant across hospitality roles. However, industry executives continue to emphasise that technology is intended to support employees rather than remove the human element from hospitality.

AI and automation can assist with repetitive work, improve the use of data and provide teams with more time to focus on guests. As a result, digital confidence and data literacy are becoming more valuable alongside communication, judgement, problem-solving and emotional intelligence.

Competition for experienced hospitality professionals is expected to become stronger as additional hotels, resorts and tourism destinations develop across the UAE and wider Gulf. Employers are therefore looking beyond salary when it comes to attracting and retaining talent.

Career development, training, leadership, workplace culture and opportunities for progression are becoming important factors in employee retention. Hospitality executives also stress the need to create workplaces where employees feel recognised, supported and able to build long-term careers.

The sector is also looking to attract younger professionals by highlighting the wider range of career opportunities available within hospitality. Alongside traditional hotel roles, employees can pursue careers in technology, finance, revenue management, sales, marketing, events, engineering, sustainability, wellness and culinary operations.

The discussion comes as ATM 2026 begins in Dubai under the theme “Travel 2040: Driving New Frontiers Through Innovation and Technology”. The event brings together airlines, hotels, tourism authorities, destinations, technology companies and travel buyers from September 14 to 17.
